Matt was born in Tyler, Texas, and grew up in San Antonio. He is a constitutional attorney, college professor of American history and government, and public speaker on America’s Founding History. He also works in business development for Vista Bank.
Matt completed his fifth term in the Texas state legislature in 2023. During his tenure as a state representative, Matt fought to protect the unborn, restore trust in our electoral system, defend our Second Amendment rights, secure the border, reform skyrocketing property taxes, strengthen Texas families, preserve religious liberties, and support law enforcement. He has consistently been recognized for his stances on limited government, fiscal responsibility, traditional family values, and pro-life advocacy.
Matt and his wife, Jennie, live in the Fort Worth area with their five children: Jeremiah, Hannah Sue, James, Gracie, and Ruthie. They are active members of First Baptist Church of Keller, where Matt and Jennie help teach the 6th grade Sunday School class.
