STATE OF MICHIGAN,
CERTIFICATE OF PROCLAMATION
ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF MICHIGAN
I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 18 through November 24, 2012 as MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN HERITAGE WEEK.
WHEREAS, the preamble to the state of Michigan Constitution of 1963 states that, “We, the people of the state of Michigan, grateful to Almighty God for the blessings of freedom, and earnestly desiring to secure these blessings undiminished to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this constitution”; and,
WHEREAS, the Christian faith is imbedded into the fabric of our nation’s history as the founders and earliest leaders of the United States governed with reverence to God; and,
WHEREAS, U.S. Representative Nick J. Rahall II of West Virginia introduced a House joint resolution for America’s Christian Heritage Week on August 11, 1992, and that year, Christian Heritage Week was celebrated during the week of Thanksgiving; and,
WHEREAS, during this week, churches in the Great Lakes State and throughout our nation celebrate their Christian heritage; we join together to acknowledge the importance of faith and prayer as we remain thankful for the many blessings in our beautiful state of Michigan;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan do hereby proclaim Sunday November 18 through Saturday, November 24, 2012 Michigan Christian Heritage Week.
