As proclaimed by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin

WHEREAS, Thanksgiving Week marks the twenty-second consecutive Christian Heritage Week in West Virginia observance; thus continuing a tradition of annual proclamations beginning with Governor Gaston Caperton in 1992 thru 1996 and continued by Governor Cecil Underwood from 1997 thru 2000, Governor Bob Wise from 2001 thru 2004, Governor Joe Manchin from 2005 thru 2010, and Governor Earl Ray Tomblin from 2011 thru 2015; and,

WHEREAS, 182 mayors from 122 cities, towns and villages throughout the West Virginia have proclaimed Christian Heritage Week since 2001; and,

WHEREAS, local churches are encouraged to participate with relevant Sunday School lessons, sermons, patriotic song services, youth programs and prayer meetings.

NOW, THEREFORE, Let it be Known that November 22-28, 2015, Thanksgiving Week is hereby proclaimed as:

Christian Heritage Week

in the

Town of White Hall, West Virginia

and the Town Council of White Hall invites all citizens to join in this local event each in their own way.

ON BEHALF OF THE PEOPLE OF MICHIGAN

I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim November 23 – 29, 2014 CHRISTIAN HERITAGE WEEK.

WHEREAS, our nation was established on the foundation of our Judeo-Christian heritage, as our founders knew that America’s experiment in ordered liberty could not succeed unless the American people remained mindful of God’s blessings; and,

WHEREAS, in Michigan we are fortunate to have been blessed with beautiful rivers, lakes, fields, forests, and a people who – through hard work and intellectual effort and toil – have made cultural, industrial, agricultural, and educational advancements for the enrichment of life for our citizens; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to having many blessings for which to be thankful, our society is also faced with difficult challenges, unrest and uncertain times which test our people and challenge their lives; and,

WHEREAS, Christian Heritage Week provides us with the opportunity to acknowledge our many blessings, to contemplate the numerous challenges that we as a society and a nation face here and at home and throughout the world, and to rededicate ourselves to our nation’s spiritual roots, our personal faith, and to His divine plan to spread hope, peace and love among all peoples;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Rick Snyder, governor of Michigan do hereby proclaim November 23-29, 2014 Christian Heritage Week in Michigan.

WHEREAS, for many West Virginians, public school days once began with a daily Pledge of Allegiance, prayer, and Bible readings; and

WHEREAS, local church are asked to participated with relevant Sunday School lessons, sermons, patriotic song services, youth programs, and prayer meetings.

WHEREAS, the State songs, the West Virginia Hills and West Virginia, My Home Sweet Home, contain the lyrics, “With their summits bathed in glory, like our Prince Immanuel’s land!” and “There I work, and I play, and I worship Sunday”; and

WHEREAS, the influence of Christianity in West Virginia is evident by her many churches and Christian entities, ministries, missions, and schools; cherished Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving holiday seasons; and a willingness of Mountaineers to love they neighbor as thyself.

NOW, THEREFORE, I William A. “Bill” O’Brien, Mayor of the City of Beckley, do hereby proclaim November 23-29, 2014 as

CHRISTIAN HERITAGE WEEK

in the City of Beckley and invite all citizens to join in this local event each in their own way.
